Joel kinnaman gave a depth to the character of kovac. A man broken from his loss of his family, his sister and his lover. waking into a distopia he had fought so hard to prevent. A tragic brooding figure with a brilliant talent for combat and brilliant mind for reading people and their motives. Joel kinnaman made kovac as thrilling to watch as christian bale made batman.
I can't fathom what anthony mackie was trying to channel in his version of kovac because it looked like another generic angry black man against the world type character. Between the two kovac I felt joel's was far superior then mackie. It only proved why mackie is not lead character material.
